November 2, 2025 - Municipal Elections

In preparation for the municipal elections scheduled for November 2, 2025, in the Township of Gore, this page aims to provide a clear and structured overview of the key stages of the electoral process. It is intended for both prospective candidates and electors—whether or not they reside within the municipality. The information outlines the various stages, beginning with the publication of the notice of election and covering the nomination process, revision of the electoral list, and various voting procedures, all the way through to polling day. Each step is summarized to promote informed, inclusive, and accessible public engagement.

1. Notice of election

Published on September 3, 2025 by the returning officer, the notice of election marks the beginning of the election period (September 19 to November 2, 2025). It includes essential information concerning:

  • Positions for which nominations are being accepted
  • The candidacy period
  • Requirements for an electoral event
  • Polling station dates and schedules
  • The possibility of voting at home
  • Voting by mail
  • The name of the election’s secretary
  • The contact information of the returning officer


2. Submitting a candidacy

Interested candidates must file their candidacy within the deadlines indicated in the notice of election, i.e., between September 22, 2025, and October 3, 2025, on the dates and times specified in the notice. The deposit of the forms must be made to the returning officer. Applications must meet the eligibility criteria.

The list of candidates will be updated regularly to allow citizens to consult it.


3. Filing of the list of electors

The list of electors is prepared and tabled by the returning officer. It contains the names of those eligible to vote. The list will be submitted on October 3, 2025.

Before the list is submitted, a non-domiciled elector verifies their registration on the list by contacting the returning officer. They can apply to be entered on the list of electors by filling out the appropriate form.


4. Revision of the list of electors

The revision of the list of electors provides an opportunity for individuals to request registration onto the list of electors if they are not already listed, or to update their address or any other personal information.

The schedule for the board of revisors is outlined in a notice published shortly after the filing of the list of electors.

Correspondence is also sent to addresses within the municipality, listing the individuals registered at each location. If no one is registered at a given address, the correspondence clearly indicates this.

Individuals who are not domiciled in the municipality must contact the returning officer to verify their registration on the list of electors.

To submit a request for registration, removal from the list, or correction of information, individuals must appear before the board of revisors at the location, dates, and times specified in the notice of revision. The procedures for submitting such requests are detailed in the said notice.


5. Exercise your right to vote

To exercise the right to vote in the municipal elections of November 2, 2025, a person must meet the following conditions on polling day:

  • Be a natural person
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be a Canadian citizen
  • Not be under guardianship
  • Not have been convicted of any electoral fraud in the past five years
  • Be registered on the list of electors

In addition, they must meet one of the following two conditions:

  • Be domiciled in the territory of the municipality and have resided in Québec for at least six months
  • Have been the owner of an immovable or an occupant of a business establishment located on the territory of the municipality for at least 45 days


6. Voting methods

Vote by mail

Electors who do not reside in the Municipality of the Township of Gore and who registered on the electoral list within the prescribed deadlines may vote by mail. To do so, they must submit a request by completing the appropriate section of the Power of attourney Form (SMRC-9.1) or for  (Application for Registration Form SMRC-9.2).

This request must be submitted no later than October 21, 2025. Voting instructions will be provided to the electors concerned.

Voting at Home

Electors residing in the Municipality of the Township of Gore may request to vote at home if they have reduced mobility or are unable to travel due to health reasons. A caregiver living in the same polling division may also vote during this visit.

This request must be submitted no later than October 21, 2025.

Advance polls

The advanced poll will be held at the Fire Hall located at 11 Cambria Road on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Polling day

Polling day will be held at the Fire Hall located at 11 Cambria Road on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
